Dr. Md. Ferdous Hossain , Additional Secretary (Retd.) have been accomplished more than 34-years professional career. He joined as Assistant Commissioner and Magistrate in Administration Cadre of the Bangladesh Civil Service in February 1988. He worked as Assistant Commissioner and Magistrate in Field Administration since 1998 to 1994. He served as Senior Assistant Secretary, Deputy Secretary and Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Water Resources, Economic Relations Division, Finance Division, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Primary and Mass Education. Dr. Ferdous worked as Senior Consultant in DMTBF project funded by World Bank and SPFMSP project financed by DFID of the Finance Division. He also worked as Consultant Digital Land Management Project funded by EU of the Ministry of Land. Dr. Ferdous obtained Ph. D from the Institute of Bangladesh Studies (IBS) University of Rajshahi in 2004. He got his BSS (Hons) and MSS in international Relations from the University of Dhaka. He received advanced certificates in Arabic Language from the Modern Language Institute of University of Dhaka and Japanese Language from Japan. During his long professional career, he undertook extensive training in public sector management and participated in numerous international workshops in different countries. He has five articles in the national and International Journals. He has published two books. In his personal life, Mr.Ferdous is happily married and proud father of two daughters.

Colonel MD Sohel Rana (Retd.)

Colonel Md Sohel Rana is a retired distinguished military leader, aviation expert, and international peacekeeper with a career spanning decades of service and global collaboration. An alumnus of Pabna Cadet College, he graduated from the Bangladesh Military Academy and the Defence Services Command & Staff College, Mirpur. He holds a Master’s in Defence Studies from the National University and a Bachelor of Science from Chittagong University. Colonel Rana has specialized in Military Strategy, geopolitics, conflict resolution , flight safety, aircraft accident investigation, and peacekeeping operations. His leadership roles in the Bangladesh Army have been complemented by key assignments in United Nations missions across Kuwait, Congo, and Liberia. A highly accomplished aviator, Colonel Rana has also held key roles such as Squadron Commander, Chief Flight Instructor, and Colonel Staff within Army Aviation. His credentials as a Qualified Flight Instructor and Flight Safety Specialist, coupled with training from institutions in Bangladesh, China, and the USA showcase his profound expertise in aviation. His professional journey is further distinguished by strategic partnerships with global aerospace leaders including Dassault Aviation, Airbus Military, Alenia Aermacchi, Cessna Textron, Embraer and Bombardier. Colonel Rana is a dedicated social advocate, passionately promoting adventure tourism , mental health awareness, and the preservation of the Earth, climate, and natural environment. He is the visionary behind Kaktarua WeatherBird, an initiative that delivers early weather warnings to underprivileged farmers and fosters awareness about climate resilience. The Colonel is also highly active on social media, where he champions contemporary social, political and environmental issues with conviction and clarity. Today, Colonel Rana continues to contribute as a professional advisor, flight instructor, and advocate for operational excellence and aviation safety. His legacy reflects a lifelong commitment to mentorship, international cooperation, and the advancement of global aviation standards.

Golam Iftekhar Mahmud

Golam Iftekhar Mahmud is one of Bangladesh’s most respected voices in climate and environmental journalism, with a career spanning more than two decades. As editor-in-chief of Dhaka Stream, he leads a new-generation newsroom that combines investigative depth with innovative storytelling. His editorial leadership emphasises accuracy, transparency, and the public’s right to know, values that have defined his career. For two decades, Iftekhar served as a special correspondent at Prothom Alo. He reported extensively from the frontlines of climate impacts while also investigating governance challenges and policy gaps. His reporting has shaped national conversations and influenced government policies, making him a trusted source for both local communities and international audiences. He has represented Bangladesh at the UN Climate Change Conference (COP) multiple times, bringing global climate negotiations to the attention of domestic readers. His work has earned prestigious national and international recognition, including the Mark Angelo River Award (2024), the National Disaster Management Awards from the UN and the Government of Bangladesh (2008 & 2009), the Best Journalist Award from Work for Green Bangladesh (2014), and the Green Man Award (2021). His leadership extends beyond the newsroom: he serves as a board member of the Press Institute of Bangladesh, advising on journalism training, ethics, and curriculum design, and has acted as a judge for national climate innovation and advocacy competitions. An accomplished educator, Iftekhar is an adjunct faculty member at Jahangirnagar University’s Department of Journalism and Media Studies, where he teaches environmental and development journalism. His mentorship has guided the next generation of climate communicators and researchers. He has also worked in research and development roles at BRAC, contributing to national policy discussions through field studies and co-authored monographs. Iftekhar is the author and editor of Environment Journalism in Bangladesh, Rediscovering the Sundarbans, and Climate Resilient Children of Bangladesh. His scholarly research appears in respected international journals, covering topics such as urban heat islands, flood hazard mapping, tidal river management, and climate change’s impact on bioclimatic indicators.

Rehan A. Asad

Mr. Rehan A. Asad is a globally accomplished executive known for his leadership in operations, innovation, and humanitarian work. Rehan A. Asad currently serves as the Vice President of Global Operations at Expedia Group, a role he assumed in February 2023. His career spans diverse sectors, including technology, telecommunications, and international development. Before joining Expedia, he was the Chief Program Officer at Expo 2020 Dubai (2020–2023), where he played a pivotal role in orchestrating one of the world’s largest global events. From 2017 to 2020, Mr. Asad served as Chief of Staff at the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), where he oversaw strategic initiatives across departments such as communications, innovation, and IT, contributing to WFP’s Nobel Peace Prize-winning efforts. Earlier in his career, he held several senior leadership roles at AT&T (2008–2017), including Executive Director of Mobility and Broadband Operations and Director of Corporate Strategy. He began his professional journey at Nokia Siemens Networks as a Senior Consultant and Network Engineer, gaining international experience across multiple regions. Mr. Asad holds a Master’s degree in Management and Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and a Bachelor’s in Telecom and Electrical Engineering from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. He is widely recognized as an award-winning engineer and a passionate advocate for innovation, sustainability, and global collaboration.

Mir Nadia Nivin

Ms. Mir Nadia Nivin is an International Development Professional with specialization in Governance and Institutional Reforms. She brings about 18 years of global experience assisting national governments and other stakeholders in various countries in implementing public sector reforms. Ms Nadia has served with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for about 17 years. She served as Head of Governance with UNDP Afghanistan, where she led one of UNDP’s largest governance portfolios comprising programs of cumulative budget of over USD 400 million. She was responsible for supporting the Election Commission in the conduct of the 2014 elections- the first democratic transfer of power in Afghanistan. Her other responsibilities included strengthening local governance, promoting gender equality, establishing core government functions and enhancing the Afghan parliament. Her immediate past assignment was in Myanmar, where she played a crucial role, post military takeover, in the redesign and roll out of UNDP’s new development program. Before Myanmar, Nadia was posted in Malaysia as the lead Governance Advisor to help the then new government’s governance reform agenda. In this capacity, she extensively assisted the Malaysian government in implementing reforms in areas of elections, parliament, justice sector, anticorruption etc. During her tenure with UNDP, Nadia also served in Pakistan, Bangladesh and was stationed at the UNDP Headquarters in New York and in Germany. For her contributions to international development, Nadia was named Asia Society’s 40 under 40 global leaders in 2019. Mir Nadia Nivin most recently served as an appointed member of the Bangladesh Electoral Reform Commission- one of the six reform commissions established by the Interim Government towards re establishing democratic governance. Nadia holds a Master degree in Public Administration from Harvard University, John F. Kennedy School of Government and a Master degree in Computer Science from California State University, Sacramento.
